Absence

Please contact the school at 535-1300 when your child will be absent from school.  Upon the child's return, a note must accompany him/her explaining the reason for the absence as well as the day and date of the absence.  The Chicago Public Schools accepts only 6 reasons for excused absences:
  •      Illness
  •      Death in the family
  •      Family emergency
  •      Religious observance
  •      Circumstances which cause reasonable concern to the parent or legal guardian for safety of the student
  •      Situations beyond the control of the student as determined by the principal

Dress Code

Price School has a dress code policy and all students are required to wear uniforms daily.   Students failing to comply with the Price uniform policy will be in violation of the Chicago Public Schools Student Code of Conduct and may be asked to change or alter their clothing.  The uniform attire for all students is a white shirt with a collar, blue bottoms, and black shoes.  The 7 & 8 grade uniform will be a white shirt with a collar and Khaki bottom.  The following stores carry uniforms suitable for our students: Rainbow, Target, Wal-Mart, and Sears.  Any clothing that exposes undergarments, midsections, backs, or upper legs are not allowed.  Any clothing that may constitute a safety hazard is not permissible as well.  Please support our dress code policy by discussing the rules with your child, and have them wear appropriate clothes to school.

Homework

Homework is an extension of the school day.  The Chicago Public School mandates homework daily for all students.  Homework assignments are based on classroom instructional activities and units of study.  Parents are encouraged to schedule a specific time and a quiet place for students to complete homework assignments.

Kindergarten               15 mins per day
Grades 1-3                  30 mins per day
Grades 4-6                  45 mins per day
Grades 7-8                  90 mins per day

Local School Council

The Local School Council (LSC) consists of parents, community members, and the principal of the school.  All members of the council are elected and conduct monthly meetings which the public can attend.  LSC's are the site based management team of each school.  Their primary responsibility is to select the principal, renew the principal's contract, approve the SIPAAA and approve the school's budget for the school year.  If you are interested in joining the LSC, please contact Katrina Wilson, Chairperson @ 773 535-1300 for further information.
